Our Story

Mad Tako — Mad as in crazy, Tako as in octopus (Hawaiian for octopus). Eight arms, each working on a different task: that's the company, and honestly, the family. Founded by Robert Brady — more than 40 years in apparel, lifelong surfer and painter, cancer survivor — and run day to day with his wife Dawn. Home base is San Juan Capistrano, about a mile from the beach, with Huckleberry, a 100-pound golden retriever and Lord of the House, and Zuma, a bobtail cat with seven toes on each foot, supervising. (Yes, there were once tarp-surfing days. Ask us sometime.)
